A Bit About Me

I’ve always believed that life is about connection—connection to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us. Growing up as a first-generation Muslim woman, I often felt the tension of navigating multiple worlds and expectations. I wasn’t taught healthy ways to express emotions, and mental health wasn’t openly talked about in my community. Through my own journey of self-discovery, I came to value authenticity, resilience, and the courage it takes to use your voice. Today, those values shape who I am, both personally and professionally. When I’m not in session, you can often find me outside soaking up the sun, with my two cats nearby, or diving into improv and creative projects that remind me of the power of play.

Why I Do This Work

My passion lies in helping people who feel silenced, stuck, or disconnected find their way back to themselves—or maybe meet a version of themselves they’ve never had the chance to know. I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you, but about creating a space where you can explore, heal, and reclaim your power. I’m especially drawn to working with those who’ve spent their lives hustling for worthiness or struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, or identity. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, embrace their strengths, and live with authenticity and courage.

Training & Education

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology (with a minor in Philosophy) from Rutgers University, and my master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. Over the past decade, I’ve worked with adolescents, young adults, and families across a variety of settings—including college counseling, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and a state prison (yep - I've worked in a prison.. and I loved it!)

My clinical training includes:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

  • Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT)

  • Family-Based Treatment (FBT) for eating disorders I also draw my work from:

  •  Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

My professional path has been rooted in evidence-based care while always centering compassion, cultural humility, and a strengths-based perspective. Alongside my therapy practice, I facilitate group therapies, lead trainings for clinicians, and continue to expand my education in areas such as Gottman Couples Therapy and shame resilience work inspired by Dr. Brené Brown. Each step of my journey has deepened my belief in therapy as a place of safety, growth, and transformation.
